FIX For Echo PB-250LN Blowers (weak, slow)

Any comments that can refine this post will be graciously appreciated.

I have 3 Echo PB-250LN Blowers. All three gradually became weaker & weaker (over about 2 years), not running smoothly and failing to reach full speed (R.P.M.).

Fix for all three: (In this case.)

- Remove Muffler Assembly & Spark Plug

- Position Piston Travel. Pull the start cord gently to position the piston for an open view into side of the the top of the piston's cylinder. Light should be able to shine through the cylinder head from the spark plug port to the exhaust port.

- Scrape Carbon Deposits out of Exhaust Port, (thoroughly). Use a vacuum cleaner (or compressed air etc.) to remove the loosened carbon.

- Remove the Muffler's Side Cover Assembly and associated Underlying Screen Assembly. Separate the layers of this assembly, wire brush the carbon out. Be sure to thoroughly wire brush the screen assembly too ! Reassemble and reinstall it to the side of the muffler as it came apart.

- Reinstall the Muffler & Spark Plug.

Note: If the spark plug's "threaded end" does not appear brown in color, but rather black or light tan, this could indicate a carburetor related problem involving a fuel to air mixture that is too rich or too lean respectively.

Note: If you don't notice a significant carbon build up in the exhaust port &/or muffler, the exhaust port may not be the problem.

Note: In the future, be sure to use the best 2 cycle oil, (at the proper fuel - oil ratio as specified by the manufacturer) in the fuel mixture in order to minimize carbon build up.

Note: Thanks to this forum site for this information. It has solved the problem for all three of my blowers. They literally run like new!

In the future, post in this forum for saws and blowers rather than lawnmower site . No foul . However what is your actual question ? All and even more issues can cause the symptoms you have indicated .

To answer your question, I really did not have a question for my specific case, since the fix had been positively verified by actually accomplishing the repairs accordingly; however, the request to "help me refine this post" has been answered by you by helping me know where to post such material in the future. Thanks again.

Concerning the fact that there are more causes for the indicated symptoms is understood and much appreciated. In accordance with my post, "Fix for all three: (In this case)" is meant to explain that, in this particular case only, the actions taken, as explained, completely solved my problems.

As in my final "note" of the post, once again, I would like to give a big thank you to this forum for providing a great discussion that helped me find the "custom" solutions for my three Echo blowers.

Franklin Welcome to the Forum , your list of plausible causes for your indicated symptoms was sound . However a partially restricted fuel filter , stretched or worn diaphragm , Efuel fouled carb circuits or a weak ignition module or trigger coil can also contribute to the causation of your described issues . Ensure you are using the Best Premium Synthetic Oil for your Blowers they are extreme service rated units . Also use efuel rated conditioners to prevent troubles with your carb should you use cheaper oil which does not have stabilizer . Have fun in the Forum , Good bunch of Regulars !

glad to hear you figured it out. what of the things you did you think solved your problem? is yours the older gray or orange bodied units? those little echo's (21cc) can be a little temperamental at times. actually dealing with an old srm2100, not cooperating. waiting for carb kit
