PLEASE HELP NEED ADVICE ASAP

Hello Everyone,

We are purchased a new black

sink and are trying to get advice on what color granite counter tops to go with. I will attach a picture of the house currently along with the sink and faucet we just purchased. (All of the appliances are stainless steel now) I am was thinking about black but wasn't sure with the black sink. What does everyone think? NEED ADVICE ASAP

Do you think any of these would work? backsplash or no backsplash? If backsplash, what kind?

I prefer the darkest one. But with a black sink and light cabinets you can go with anything.

Do not get a 4" backsplash for your kitchen. It looks stupid especially if you are going to put tile above it.

Wait until everything is installed and then begin your backsplash hunt. you never know what your house will look like once it is installed.

Good advice. Any of the three them will work. No 4" band. Wait for the backsplash until everything is installed.

    4 Backsplash? 4 band?

do not do a 4" stone backsplash

I am not sure what your referring to? Picture?

do you see how they put stone on the wall as a backsplash.. DO NOT do that

Oh ok I understand, I wont.

One other question. The sink is drop in or under mount. How should I have it installed? as a drop in or under mount?

it is personal preference. Under-mount is popular and convenient since you can wipe up anything or scoot water directly into it without the lip of the sink.

    Undermount. What Catt said.

I would use the top choice because it has some of your cabinet tones in it also

My concern with the top choice, is too many light tones?

I like the middle one, but an all white would be best in my opinion.

I would go with the top choice. It’s much warmer than the other two, and would go nicely with your cabinets. It has enough dark/black speckles in it to look nice with the sink too. I would DEFINITELY under mount the sink. My last couple sinks have been under mounted and I wouldn’t do it any other way.

Also, I agree with the others. Install the counter top, then choose backsplash tile (which you definitely want in a kitchen).

I like the darkest one the best with your sink and cabinets. My second choice would be the middle, I don't care for the first one at all.

1st granite sample, goes best with cabs & warmer feel of kitchen. other two are "cool" and don't really work with your cabs/flooring.

    no 4" b/s. under-mount sink for sure

exchange sink for 70/30 split or single bowl. 50/50 would drive me nuts, nothing will fit in there.

Please don't install that sink; it's obsolete. I replace double bowl sinks constantly. Low divide if you just can't make the transition to a single bowl yet. Throw away the manufacturer provided clips and undermount with a Hercules Universal Sink Harness (Braxton Bragg) or a Sink Strap (Regent Stone Products).

Regarding a 4" or 3" or 3" etc. backsplash. If you're not planning on tiling, there's nothing wrong with them. Nor do they look stupid or dated when used alone. Just skip them if you're tiling.

Does this kitchen look stupid or dated or "low rent"?

    What about this one?

    This one?

    This one?

    Maybe this one?

    How about one more try?

Call me crazy but none of these kitchens looked stupid or dated to me.

What's going to date faster one of the kitchens above or this one?

Personally, compared to the ubiquitous white subway tile or worse, elaborate intricate busy "statement" back splashes glazed with unicorn tears that people feel compelled to install, I much prefer the simple, clean lines of a painted wall paired with the much maligned 4" or 3" or 2" back splash.

Of course others may disagree. I'm perfectly fine with that.

Just my two cents as we’ve had the sink dilemma. We almost went double bowl under mount but switched to a single bowl. Best decision I ever made. Once you go single you’ll never go double!

We have decided to go with the dark granite just because we feel everything in the room is already light. The darker granite will add contrast. We are waiting on backsplash until everything is installed but I think something like this would compliment it very nicely. Thoughts?

+1 on single bowl. Had double bowl all my life, installed single bowl and it is so much better. I liked the double bowl because I could fill one side to wash and use the empty side to rinse. I can still do that with a tub in the single sink. But in addition the single sink can

    1) soak large pans, used to soak on the counter

    2) all food easily goes into disposal. I used to have to scoop food remnants from the non disposal side to the disposal side

    3) still fill the sink to wash, just takes more water.

    4) fit all the dishes from a meal instead of just some

Also if possible do undermount with a little lip. You can then put a cutting board on the lip and cut directly over the sink.
