I can't tell what color the trim is now?

It is not as bad as I was expecting. I could probably live with it for awhile but then I am cheap. :)

What color was it before red? And what color will the roof be?

If you like the red, then you should find a way to keep some. I think I'd let the 2nd floor stay red and paint the 1st floor a greyish colour a shade deeper than your foundation stone.

If you've decided to do away with red, well, your house feels a bit log-cabinish to me so a rich brown might work well.

Actually, to my mind, the main issue with your house is not the colour. It's that the full length balcony combined with huge parking area in front makes it look like a motel. Consider getting a professional landscape plan that you can implement yourself. I think that will make more difference than all the paint in the world.

I actually like the red. The back drop of green is its compliment. I think once you get your landscaping in it will look great.

Yes to changing all the trim except for that at the bottom of the siding and the downspout should be painted the same as the siding.

JudyG Designs - great colour combo. I'm not sure another bold colour is worth the risk, as I REALLY don't want to paint again any time soon. The back of the house has several peaks for a deck and a nook, I'd have to ask my roofer about the metal roof.

Jennifer K: You suggest metal roof too, hmmm? Interesting. Worth looking at. We do get A LOT of snow. The house is on a small acreage, so I get the 'log cabin' feel, but I'd rather go more ... executive, I think. For sure more tame. Thank-you for supporting me in the red, if I like it. Lezlie Cooper - Thanks for your support of the red. LMAO at landscaping ... it IS done! :-) There are lilacs and ornamental trees where the photographer would have been. There are usually red petunias behind the truck, along that wall. But, other than that ... that's it. (So much concrete block.)

Would you be able to do a light beige colour with white trim?

I am over-the-moon at being able to see examples outside of my imagination.

I kind of like the two tone,,but don't like any of those others.

I almost like the red,,really like the black trim,,,why not add some cedar shake or siding ?? You don't have to do the entire thing, maybe the upper left portion.

this house needs bold. I'd do a cedar something, black, dark blue, or some stone work,,,forest green w/wood accents,,,,something of that ilk.

I like the all-black trim very much. I like Grovers 2-tone more than I expected to. Of course in real life you can tweak the 2 colors to pull them together a bit tighter. Even a darker, dirtier red I think I'd like if you have the energy to repaint. Unfortunately the red you got is a little too watermelon and not enough barn red. If you do repaint try an earthy shade of any color. Otherwise just smile through it!

We chose russet red for our house. people have told us they love it and others do not. we love how it turned out with the trim and stone work and wood garage doors. I like your red house.
