L-shaped Ceiling - Mounted track shower rod.

My shower measurements are 42 by 36 inches . I understand that the rod can be trimmed. My question is can I extend the left over cut rod and use that to extend on the 32 inch side to make it to 36 inches. Do I need a connector? Appreciate your comment.

    In order to do so another splice would be needed which is not included with the standard L-shape tracks available from Houzz. Custom size L-shape are available from the TRAX manufacturer and for the size referred to it would not add a second splice to the track.
