I’ve recently moved into my new apartment and there are no overhead lights, so I’m left working with chord kits and hanging pendants and string lights.
Currently my living room isn’t bright enough and I need a solution for over the sectional that will fit well with the rest of my space. It gets very dark when the sun isn’t out which isn’t ideal for doing any work (I’m a college student). Although I intend to get a desk, I’ll still be doing some work from the comfort of my couch.
Photo one shows the living area. There isn’t really room for a floor lamp, as the sectional takes up the entirety of the wall space. My sectional faces my TV on the opposite wall. Ignore the desk lamp on the floor, I’ve been using that temporarily, propping it on the back of the couch when it gets dark.

The only other problem I’m having is with an end table. Clearly the one I have is all wrong, so if anyone has any suggestions for an alternative (under $50 please) I’m open to them.
