Fragrant Plants Container Gardening

Container Gardenia problem

Can someone please tell me what .to do with this gardenia? I repotted 2 plantplants 6 weeks ago thinking too wet. Lost one. This had a few fleshy white roots on one side. Removed a lot of other side. No bud loss, still making new buds, but just looks sickly green.

Actually the second photo was in a rich color format. The first one more representative of the right appearances. It is in 5:1:1 mix with reptibark . Faster draining than previous 5:1:1 but i forgot to wash reptibark.

I will appreciate any expert guidance .
