If you have more of those sandstone blocks sitting around, I'd put the fruit basket on top of one and plant something fluffy at the base of the block.

Depending on how much freeze/thaw you get, it might be a good idea to seal the carving if you use it upside down. Water hasn't been collecting in those crevices most of the carving's life.

What a lucky find. Keep us posted if you come up with an idea.

I like the idea of putting it in a shady spot in the garden, plant around it and let it look like an archaeological discovery, like the missing city of something. Encourage moss growth on it and surround with ferns. I do think Karen has a good suggestion though to turn it so water doesn't pool in areas and destroy it too soon. It's a great find. I love it!
