Round-up on raspberry runners

If I spray round-up (glyphosate) on raspberry runners (suckers, starts, whatever you want to call them), will it kill the host plant?

I've got a patch next to a chain link fence separating my yard and a vacant field full of weeds. The weeds are making their way through the fence and making a mess of my raspberry patch. I have permission from the field owner to spray his weeds, but I've also got a lot of raspberry runners that have spread into his field amongst the weeds. If I just spray down the field side, I'm worried that the spray that gets on the runners will travel back to the root system of my patch where the runners came from. Will spraying the runners kill my patch?
