I second the idea of a painting at the end.

And consider painting that elaborate arch and the ceiling of the hallway a medium to dark color that goes with the artwork. It will shorten the hallway and lower the cieling a bit.

Thank you for your help! We don't have enough room for a bench at the end of the hallway but the other ideas should work. I always thought a picture at the end would be strange, but I just tried taping up a poster and I think it will look good to put something there.

I agree, a picture would look good, maybe a runner rug, would accent the area as well!

Why not try changing out the light in the hallway, adding a nice runner, and adding some new artwork? All those things should give you some great updates.
