I would suggest something a bit taller like a tall plant or small tree.

A (real) plant would be nice if there's sufficient light. I have a basket in our family room that holds throws, so I like that suggestion. You can roll them up tightly and stand upright in the basket. If you like, you can arrange the rolls at different heights.

I'd rather have dried branches than any fake plant.
