Only suggestion is to not use aluminum foil, a matte white surface will reflect more light back.

My plants are mainly housed in a porch for the winter with a combination of sunlight and various artificial lights. This is a pic from last fall on a bright day.

I have a 600W MH, various 4ft led tubes, various led bulbs and couple of commercial led blue/red led sources.

My controlled space is a 3 tier shelf where I grow from cuttings, start seeds or serve as an ER for stressed plants that are small enough.

I use bathroom vanity fixtures with CFL bulbs. Tje fixtures were from a salvage store. Although it is a 3 light fixture I generally use one. There are two opposing light fixture at each shelf tier, The mylar film is from more than 15 yrs back and I had been meaning to change it to a plain white film. Never got around to that.

You have a very nice setup

I have debated on white vs Al I use both and I think the Al works better. It is close and White is much easier than Al to setup.

Thanks Steve. My setup evolved a bit at a time over many years. Started with a few fluorescent tubes in basement. But as the plants grew I had to reconfigure every year. The move to the porch was the best ever move in many ways. Now we can also enjoy the view daily through the winter months.

We modified the porch over a period of 5 yrs (and still not done). Except the windows and the paint everything is salvaged or up-cycled material. It stays cooler through the winter and a lot less pests. Temp can drop below 45F during severe cold spells. There is a 1000W heater set to kick in at 45F. As March rolls in, avg temp goes up, plants start to wake up and so do the pests.

Aluminum foil as a reflector is great when you have to deal with heat from the fixtures. It is harder to keep it clean and smooth.
