Confused about kitchen table and chairs

We finally got our kitchen table and we are very happy with it. It is a 42 inch round. We decided on 2 chairs since it is only the two of us who eat in the kitchen. I have a dining room for guests. I like that the smaller table with 2 chairs gives us more space especially for going out to the deck. But does having only 2 chairs look strange? Would appreciate some comments. Thanks.

It's not a small bistro table where 2 chairs would work; you will need the additional chairs for the best balanced look.

I was thinking 3 chairs would be best, but it looks like the supports of the table won't allow for just 3.

I agree that the size of the table itself looks as if it needs the other chairs to balance out the look. However, because of the light placement, it doesn't look like you can move the table back any. A chair on the side with the door may overcrowd the door. Keep one chair where it sits now and try placing the other on the door side of the table to see if it is even feasible before making the purchase.

Thank you. Here it is with the chair on the other side. There is room to open the door if no one is sitting there. Should I purchase 2 more for balanced look or keep the 2 which is more functional?

It definitely needs the other 2 chairs for the correct look, without them it looks incomplete.

Agree. Since there is the room, I think it needs all 4 chairs to have the complete look.

Adding two chairs you won’t use doesn’t make sense...it will crowd the space under the table as well ....try rotating table with two chairs side by side facing the window...I think the table is the problem it is odd to have legs placed like that...with a round top...a pedestal is much more versatile

The table is too small for the space and two chairs make it appear even smaller. I realize there are only two of you, but a bistro table leaves little room for anything other than the placemats.

Have you considered placing the table top on a pedestal base and adding one additional chair to the arrangement? This would make the area look more complete.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. This table is 42 inches. Our last table was 48 inches and we had 4 chairs. We found it was too big for the space. We only used 2 chairs. So we decided on this smaller table. It is a brand new table and chairs so we would not be looking at purchasing another table at this time. I will try moving the table and chairs around to see if I can get a better look.

Another suggestion...placemats ...round or oval...may work better on your table
