Help designing exterior, lost

We have come into the tail end of a new home build. The brick is already on the house and is a brown toned multi color brick called walnut creek.

The house was set to have a stone wall (the thinner "column" part of the front)., board and baton and then shake at the top of the front porch.

the builder has asked us to choose colors and I am struggling! I cannot think of how to put this all together With things I like. My favorite type of house is white "farmhouse." We have also considered cream or blue. The stone choice and color choices are just not coming together for us and we feel lost!

The front porch is slated to have a couple large beams. These can be stained or painted. It's part of the choice we need to make.

Why do you have to have the stone with the brick? I think adding the stone is a big mistake. Visually it doesn't make any sense at all to have brick supporting stone. Having 4 materials on the front of your home is a huge mistake. It makes for a busy, confusing exterior. And there is no way that I would single out that column for a separate siding treatment like stone as it would turn your lovely home into something not at all pleasant. No wonder you couldn't find materials to work together.....it would be an abomination.

Having the board and batten as your second material over the brick would work nicely. It would make for a much better elevation IMO.

Two materials only for the front of your home. This is the classic "less is more" situation.

I guess because the builder told us to...lol.
He had some stone already there but it was a dark “muddy” sort of color that we didn’t really like. So he said to pick out a stone for that spot.
Perhaps going all brick in that spot?”

No stone, no more brick. You have too much brick now, and it will make the garage the focal point of your house. Wood siding on the rest. When you do paint, go with a darker color so the brick doesn’t stand out so much.

I don’t see any access to the front door? Where will the stairs be?

I agree with everything Denita & saypoint stated .... no more stone or brick.

I am going to give alternative suggestions. First, the front elevation does need stone. The style is more European than Farmhouse. In fact, it is almost Tutor in styling. I would do stone on column then a medium brown on wood which i would just keep to siding type material. Gutters, downspouts and cedar columns on front porch. Here is inspirational photo. hope your roof is some color like Weathered Wood?

I missed saying keep gutters ,downspouts and porch columns dark brown. Dark stained cedar columns on the front porch would be great.

The roof looked dark to me with some flecks of Carmel in it. It looks gray to me.

You wanted white farm house then how did you end up with this? Too many finishes for starters the brick IMO is all wrong and I never like brick and stone on the same house.Google white farmhouse don’t see much brick, you need some real pro help before going one more step.

The area where we moved has very few homes for sale and even fewer being built. We have been looking for a home for almost a year. The inside of this house is wonderful. The outside just doesn’t match what I normally like. But in the area, that house doesn’t exist.
It’s also an area where construction is always one off houses. Not lots of new neighborhoods or things to choose from.

    But the inside is lovely.

Beth, you have the brick on the house. Stone with brick is very popular in Texas so it might be a regional thing. Don’t try to force something on your exterior that doesn’t fit your styling. So there are some beautiful stones that would work well with your brick. Look for some “blends” with colors that work with your brick. Darker color trims “recede” visually so that would be good for your home. Garage doors would be best dark brown or cedar wood stained dark you have to dance with the brick you have. You could do some landscaping tricks that bring more rustic appeal such as a split rail fence on the outside edge of a flower bed from driveway to front porch steps. Climbing white roses on the fence could bring some of your wishes to the design.

At this point I want to make the outside work the best I can.

Can’t always have everything we want in life ;-)
The inside is so much easier to customize to my taste.
But this outside throws me so it’s a struggle to figure it out.

I just need to make peace with that brick and figure out the best route to go in.

    Thx!

I agree with Denita and some others - keep brick as is, don't add more, don't add stone, just go with board and batten for the rest of the home. It will look lovely!

Take a look at stone from supplier your builder works with. Go lighter with cement mortar. A nice golden color might work.

You guys ended up giving great advice! We ended up simplifying with no stone and it turned out great. Much happier!
