In my opinion, if you want electric but don't want induction, I'd go with an electric coil range.......there aren't many options, but GE and Whirlpool both make a slide-in model. (For all I know, they're the same model with different name plates.) I found the coil range easier to work with (and easier to clean) than the glass-topped radiant electric. I absolutely hated that, and when it blew, I replaced it with a GE coil electric. People thought I was crazy, but it was so much better than the radiant smooth-top.

Some more information on why you don't like your current cooktop would be a good start.

By pure physics, I guess induction will always be out as producing EMF is how it works.
