Chicken wire cylinder 3’ high would be more reliable, I think.

I think it is worth a try in a pinch ! Rabbits are so persistent though, I have a lot of clematis and they eat the same ones over and over . Not sure why they keep going back , they are new so I consider it pinching

I'll report back on the results. I don't have a rampant rabbit problem because there are cats in the neighborhood.

If I see more damage, I'll have to do the chicken wire cage. Thanks

My rabbit circles are made of 2 kinds of wire fencing. Both are green-vinyl coated, both from Tractor Supply. One is 2' wide, composed of a grid of rectangles 2x3". The other is chicken wire, which I think i buy in a 2' wide roll but I cut down to 12". First I make the circle of the 2x3 rectangle, 2 feet high. I cut the wire off the bottom to make "feet" or "pokers" almost 2 inches in length which poke into the soil. Then I wrap a 12" piece of chicken wire around the bottom of that cylinder. The result is sturdier than chicken-wire alone would be, and the top of it is not as visually prominent as chicken wire would be. (I use these mostly for lilies which are generally not in the front of the border.) Actually I was not aware that rabbits will eat Clematis, so thanks for alerting me!

I use rose canes to keep rabbits out of my beds. So far for a couple of years it’s working.

It has also worked for me so far.
