Azalea leaf gall most commonly appears in wetter than usual springs or in places where the azalea foliage is repeatedly soaked by irrigation sprinklers. It is caused by a fungus. Cutting off the infected leaves and disposing of them to prevent the spores from being released is usually the only treatment needed.
