Hostas are funny, never boring and it's fun to follow their progress. I have many which have become from variegated to green this year (Pizzazz, Color Festival, Fire and Ice). Some has changed entirely and some just half. I've been separating those half/half hostas last weekend.

Hello, Ken! Thanks for your comments. I hope your gardens are flourishing! It has been a long winter, hasn't it and I am so thankful for this spring. It feels great to have enthusiasm again, to want to muck about in the garden. It was kind of you to ask. :-)

It's a first in my garden for June to produce a blue sport with a bit of variegation at the base of the leaves. It will be interesting to watch it grow if it maintains that little blotch - I think I will leave it alone for this year. The solid blue in the last photo is on its third year now.

Green Color Festival. Little cold damage also. Tiny bit yellow in the lower one.

All green Fire and Ice, still unfurling, but no white. I have killed many of these and I'm not buying other one. I'm fine with this green one, maybe it stays alive, LOL.

Pizzazz. All leaves are green, I'm sure it was last year variagated. And tag is still there.

And the other half of Revolution. I think both green and normal has same leaf shape ja thin white line in leaf edge.

• I also had a Fire and Ice, and it also died on me in year 2 or three. Still debating with myself whether or not to replace...then Mbug posts a picture of his beauty and gets me thinking about it all over again, lol.
• Interesting little leaf on CF!
• It's the second year for my Revolution (2011) to produce a green sport so I had better remove it before it unfurls any further to make the job easier. I think it is an attractive, striking green colour.

Babka, what is the age of your OBL? I have one (2015) which is why I'm curious... it seems there is no rhyme or reason in terms of when hostas sport but I'm curious just the same and will keep an eye out. Are those 4 leaves one eye? That colour combination of the hostas in that photo is very pretty.

I think I will separate Electrocution very soon. It is slightly heaved out of the ground so replanting it now seems also an ideal time to separate the sport. There are advantages to my being a pip-counter - I tend to catch the nuances of something different early on. It's like finding presents in the garden, lol.

That OBL is from 2006 and has been divided a couple times. I just looked and that is one eye which as a normal first leaf then the others unsettled.

Three hours later and my back has had enough of work for now. I separated Electrocution but it was tough to separate without damaging so out came the steak knife!

After inspection, I decided just to cut into the sports of Revolution. There may be one more near the right front but I'll wait until it unfurls. Before separation...

jo, I like your sports. I wish more sports would become stable, like the half and half leaves or your blue leaves with blotches. A whole plant of either one of those would be so interesting. Nice of you to take photos of your work in progress.
