Denita, thank you! I know one large one (7x10) is ideal. I was trying to use them rather than roll up and store, not to mention saving $$$. I’ve ordered outdoor rugs for other areas in my home from esale rugs and have been really pleased. What do ya think?

A larger one would be better, and allow you to pull the furniture back some more filling the space better. Those rugs are beautiful but they are just too small for the area.

I think I agree with what others are saying. I would recommend a larger rug for the area. Depending on what size you need, I may be able to help you, if that's the road you decide to take!

esale rugs has some great rugs. I happen to love Oriental rugs but can definitely see a place for a less expensive solution. Are you sure 7x10 is large enough? Tape it out on the floor to see where those dimensions land. I agree with Sina about pulling the furniture back a bit.

The rugs would go well in a Larger room but not butted together as they are, suggesting that’s all you could do to cover a large area.

I agree with all of you! As you can see my furniture is very traditional. I am trying to go for a more casual style without sacrificing much loved family pieces. My budget is limited since we were forced into a remodel thanks to Harvey, advice is always welcome,!

The rug closest to the sofa appears to be a Bokhara, if you like that style, you can get that in a larger size, and it's not nearly as expensive as some other oriental rugs.

Rugnots, It is a Bokhara. I could absolutely go with an 8x10.
I also need to replace my dining room rug also. An 8x10 is a good size for it. Obviously, it needs to be compatible with my living room. Have no problem using the same rug in each room.

In regards to the kitchen area, do you know the size of your current rugs?

Rugknots, I considered using them in my kitchen, but they’re not very practical for the space. Currently they’re in my foyer where I think they will stay. I was thinking of using a sisal but I think dining and living rooms need more color.

If you're on a budget, consider an Oriental rug made of polypropylene, which can be hosed off and is easy to care for. I have this one in my dining room from esalerugs and the price for an 8 x 11 was very reasonable. Make sure the rug is large, because a small rug will make a room look smaller and less interesting and dramatic. I would not use the same rug in two rooms. An 8 x 10 with your long table might be too small.

Hmm, now what style and color to go for? An 8’x10’ is perfect for the dining room. I could go larger in the living room if necessary.
I think a lighter ground for the rugs will brighten up both rooms.

My floors are rather a little dark so anything dark is lost in them.
I’m sending a photo of a dhurri that’s in my family room. I think the lighter background for both living and dining rooms would make for a good flow, but I am open for any suggestions.
