Back to the rain...

last modified: 8 years ago

..and a tropical storm brewing up from the Yucatan Peninsula ! Not complaining tho,...my banana plantation is growing at a scary rate in last 2 weeks !

Another, perhaps more important, reason for this post is to see if shuffles is correct and they'll let me generate an original post again,...looks good so far ! Here goes ! ( smile )

I worry about the rain. We've had so much this past week, it hasn't dried out. Raining again at 12:55 am. All day, all week. Afraid the ground can't absorb anymore.

Boy, a month ago I was doing a 'rain dance' it was so dry.

    I guess it worked!

    Good luck all,

    Jane

About my comment above, - regarding me finally being able to initiate a new post of my own,..well, it worked at that moment ! However, barely 2 hours later I was back to the new, barbaric system that allows me to only post a comment on someone else's post !!

Oh well,..was nice while it lasted ! I look out back now and my eyes widen at how tall my 50' x 12' banana plantation has grown in the last 2 1/2 weeks with all this rain, and I can't help but smile ! Unable to harbor a grudge against anyone ! :o)

Don't understand this. I hate the page layout and all the clutter and all, but even on the Houzz evil twin page I can start a discussion. You don't see something like this if you click on the Florida Gardening tag at the top of this page?

Yes writersblock, I see the same logo. I click on " start a discussion ", enter a title, then a few sentences of a post, like I did again just now, then click ENTER, but NOTHING happens, - nada, zilch ! Same oh, same oh !

You are clicking NEXT? Not just using Enter/Return, which does not work?

Sorry, I meant " NEXT " instead of enter !

Sorry for the people that's getting so much rain. I've been pretty lucky here in Sebring. The 12" we received the last 11 days that started on Mother's Day hasn't caused any issues, everything went right through our sandy soils and raised our Lakes a tad which was pretty low. We've had only about 1/4" from Alberto, nothing at all and by the looks of the radar we're probably not getting anything more than that in the next 24 hours even though they are still under a flood watch...Good luck all!

pug : Glad to hear, sounds like you're " standing in some tall cotton " !

writersblock : Maybe you brought me some luck ! Went back and tried to initiate a new post for the 5th time this morning, and it took it ! This has happened before tho,..hope it stays this way indefinitely from now on.

I hope so, jofus. The new format is bad enough without glitches.

All you people having so much trouble with your phones makes me glad I'm on a PC. I never use my phone for surfing. I have a cheap phone with very little data, so I just use it to check bus schedules.

Hi Jofus, I guess that's why they called this county "highlands" lol...not to say we haven't had floods and standing water, had it several times especially during Irma :o(. One of the drawbacks of too much rain fall (among many) is I'm afraid my mangoes are going to be bland this season. Too much rain/water washes out mango flavor and sometimes causes fruits to split :o(...if it's not the squirres/raccoons/animals it's Mother Nature Lol...can't win!
