Great kitchen! Can you please tell me info about the countertop on the island? Brand/ style? Thank you

Hello and good morning! When you painted the top and bottom cabinets (Onyx and white) they came out as though new. I just hired someone to paint mine black as well and they came out to shiny, my wood now almost looks like lacquer, how can I prevent this with the kitchen cabinets? I would greatly appreciate your advice as this picture is MY dream kitchen. Thank you in advance!

Hi Lisa, I’m so sorry you had this experience. The company we used to paint the cabinets does a multi-step process and they specialize specifically in painting cabinets. They filled the holes, sanded, primed, sanded again, painted and did a top coat to protect the cabinets. This makes for a beautiful finish and a durable cabinet. Most painters who paint walls don’t do a multi step finish when painting cabinets and it makes a BIG difference in the finished product. Find someone who specifically specializes in painting cabinets, if you can. It sounds like maybe your painter used a semigloss finish instead of a satin finish. In the future, ask for a door sample of what the finished product will look like in advance. That way, you know what you’re getting beforehand. I hope this helps!
