Refrigerator crisis

Third time trying to post can’t figure out where my other post went.
I have to replace 15 year old Amana bottom freezer.
Question 1. Stainless or white (white refrigerators now have stainless handles to update them.
Question 2. French door or 2door bottom freezer
Question 3. Like Krff302ess, but right door wider than left. Does this bother anyone?
Question 4. Considering Kitchenaid and GE Profile. Any comments on brands.
Thanks for help. We will have to replace oven soon (34 years old) and dishwasher (15years old)

Stainless or white- Since you are going to be buying other appliances in the near future, decide which you prefer and make your choices consistent. Will you be changing any other surfaces in the kitchen that might look better with stainless?

I have a Sears refrigerator that is new with freezer on bottom and love it. It holds more and it is easier to find things in it.
My new dishwasher is Bosch and oven is LG. Love them both. I looked at appliances in a couple of stores and then researched them extensively online to get the features I wanted. I bought mine at Best Buy. One of their kitchen consultants came out and was so helpful. He made sure my choices fit my space and advised on alternatives when I had to change location of microwave.

I HATE French door fridges -- but I didn't really realize it until I used one at my sister's. Be sure to try out whatever you're thinking of in a store first (whether it's a local appliance store or a Home Depot - just to get an idea of the features you like and don't like). I went with one fridge door and a pull-out bottom freezer (mine is a KitchenAid). I love my new Bosch dishwasher (mine is a 500 series), although the lower rack is a little inefficiently designed......but it's worth it for the quiet operation and cleaning power.

Forgot to mention -- I went with stainless steel because I could get all my appliances to match. I don't actually prefer it, but my range was going to be stainless (only option), so I got the fridge and dishwasher in stainless too. It's more common, and it will be easier to find the appliances you want in stainless.

If you watch any of the home buying shows ( where the look at three houses, then make an offer on one ) when they see stainless appliances , the shoppers almost always have a positive comment ( wow look, stainless appliances, or wow high end appilances ). When the appliances are white, they never get that response. So I would go stainless.

I have two stainless Kitchenaid French door refrigerators, a counter depth installed as part of last year’s remodel and an 8-10 year-old monster sized one now in the garage. Both operate flawlessly and I couldn’t be happier. KD actually had to really push me to replace the older model with a counter depth, but now that I have it I prefer the counter depth. Things don’t get forever lost in the back and I find it more efficiently designed (but we’re empty nesters). I also finally upgraded my dishwasher in the last two months with a KA KDTM404 and am amazed with it’s performance, which is saying a lot since I’m on a well with very hard water with a lot of iron. With the exception of my cooktop all my appliances are KA, so I can’t compare brands but can say that my experience with all have been very positive.

GE Profile French Door is well rated but as others have posted, see if you like the French Door configuration. It is currently the most popular. Nothing wrong with the configuration you have now if you prefer it as it's functional.

Definitely go with stainless because right now that wall reads black and white and stainless would be less of a complete visual contrast to the very black wall ovens. Presumably they have some kind of stainless trim which at least ties them in. New wall ovens are black with stainless trim now anyway so if you had to replace the ovens, they would go well with the refrigerator. There are probably fewer choices in white wall ovens.

The easiest option to update the refrigerator is to invite a graffiti artist or just an artist and he paints the refrigerator under the style of the kitchen.
