A yellow chair, sure. That yellow chair, no. It's too garish to fit in your perfectly modulated house.

Yes to lowering your art, or finding something with a better aspect ratio, and lower the mirror on the other wall and the piece in the dining room, as well.

I love that chair! But after reading you guys advice, I've decided to return the yellow chairs, and try grey instead , but, same style chair. I think the room will be a better fit for my family if I turn it into a lounge or something similar rather then a sunroom. What do you think about the light grey chair ?

Gray will work. Add a couple of yellow lumbar pillows.

I forgot to mention I removed the mirrored piece on the post by the bar stools. That post is too narrow to hold anything, and you have more than enough mirrors in the space.

I agree with removing the mirrors. I'd like to see art where the three mirrors are off of the kitchen. It could incorporate your yellow and blue.

The rug is good. The yellow chair, no. Grey is good. Will blend with your theme.

I'm afraid the rug in your living room is much too small, and diminishes the impact of your nice furniture. It would be best if all the furniture could be placed on the rug, but you can also have the rug large enough so that the front feet of the upholstered furniture have carpet under them.

Please share advice on curtains color options for the living room.

I would suggest simple cream or ivory colored linen or cotton drapery panels to tie in with the sofa. Mount the rods halfway between the window top and ceiling, or at the ceiling line, and have the drape just barely touch the floor. They’re easy to hem with iron on tape if you don’t sew. Some on the forum has a chart showing how to hang curtains I’ll see if I can find it or maybe they’ll see this and post it here. You could also go with blue drapery panels, but you’d have fewer colors to choose from unless you have them custom made.

I don’t recommend the long puddled drapes in the first photo because they get dirty if you have kids or pets and need frequent attention to remain neatly arranged. Just to the floor or 1/2 inch above is fine.

I'm no designer, but I agree that the yellow chair really pops in your sunroom. Unfortunately, not in a good way. As most have said, it's too dandelion yellow.

You have done such a great job, but I have few minor suggestions:

Much of the art is undersized and hung too high.

Here is a larger piece of wall decor hung at eye height. The chandelier sphere is also too high for this room.

You can't fix everything by adding mirrors so I have added art to the dinette area & replaced your chandelier with one that is more appropriate in size & more sculptural for your room.

The back wall could use some color & you don't want an arc lamp when you have a chandelier at the same height. Find yourself some unique sculptural floor lamps and end tables since it so hard to reach the undersized coffee table.

I have also marked the floor to indicate the size the replacement rug should be.

Not sure you will need a yellow accent chair or such a bold area rug for your sun room if you get your wall art and living room rug correct.

Your selections have been so sophisticated the navy rug doesn't seem interesting enough. Maybe a color like these below.

The space seems more like an atrium, the sunlight would be a great spot for it. Some ideas in these pics:

My suggestion for your atrium was to continue the blue you have in your living room but add to the blue some green in both fabric and with live plants.

I am not thrilled with a yellow chair. I don't know what type of seating you want in the atrium, if you want a sofa and a chair, or two chairs, but a blue/green knit would be marvelous if you are up for that.

Here are some examples. If you are not brave enough for that on a chair or sofa, you can do that in an ottoman or even just the throw pillows.

I love the blue and turquoise accents in your living room and I think your house needs a lot more of those accents.

Keep this picture in mind,

and please think about changing some of the things on your walls to reflect who you really are.

Another thing, before you buy furniture for the atrium, do think about what you want the room to be. It is right next to the living room. Do you need another sitting area right there?

Do you need it to be a den/TV room? If so, that will dictate the type of seating you will need and window coverings too. Maybe you need it as an office. Maybe you need it as a place for your children to do their homework on a computer where you can supervise them. Maybe it needs to be a place that can turn into a guest room for a visiting relative, so it needs a sofa bed an attractive small dresser, and then a comfortable chair and an ottoman and that's it. Think about all that so you know what the room will be before you start spending any money.

These comments and suggestions are great! It gave me a lot to take under consideration. This home is still being decorated, I just purchase it March 9th of 2018 so I'm still working on it. Thanks for the great feedback.

Actually, Falisha, your room is more contemporary than modern (just so we have our terminology right). I don't see the TV in any of your photos. I ask because I'm always vigilant about steering people to media cabinets that are wide enough. The barnyard TV stand you show will not accommodate a very large TV.

I apologize for not mentioning this, but, the TV will actually be mounted on the wall above whatever unit is chosen.

I messed with your living room a bit. It's a little bit sterile, everything perfectly matched, so I made a few changes. Lowered the mirrors, replaced the art with canvases with a better aspect ratio, replaced the chandelier with a gold and black one that's a bit more free form, added a couple of colored pillows, gave you a larger rug.

If I could have, I would have removed the plastic from your arc lamp shades.

Mounting the TV doesn't change the size media cabinet you need.

You said your friend suggested that yellow chair, but you haven't actually said that you want yellow accents.

Your furniture is grey and you already have blue accents.

(It's okay to be brave and fun with your choice of color accents.)

Do you want additional accents to be yellow with your blue?

Do you want green with the blue?

Do you want purple with the blue?

Please think about what you like so the rest of us know what to suggest, also what colorway you plan in the atrium room which is visible from the living room, so the two rooms look well when seen together.

Another question-

Can you put up a photo of what is behind the two white stools in the living room?

If those three grey shades are from a tall floor lamp that you plan to keep, then you really don't need a ceiling lamp so close to it.

If you were to purchase a ceiling fixture, I would suggest something more like this lovely one that is contemporary with rounder lines to balance all the square lines of your living room, this one is by Torre and Tagus, and they make many different styles you might like as well, however there are many different companies that make gently rounded pendant lighting fixtures that would look lovely in your room.

I really liked the original picture you had over your sofa, it was just not the right size.

Did you select that yourself? If so, you have great taste and color sense, and trust yourself!

Go shopping and just look for something in the right size for over your sofa, it should be of the width that is 3/4 the width of the sofa.

And while you are looking, think about something for over the table with the horse.

It doesn't have to be a piece of art that is square or rectangular, it can be round or oval and three dimensional which lends more interest and texture to the room.

I am guessing, but opposite that wall, is there a door to the outside with a view?

In that case, a wonderful round starburst mirror would be perfect on that wall.

Even without a view on the opposite wall, some starburst mirrors have a small section that is mirror, and are more about their frames.

There are so many on the internet, have a look and see what you like. Some have wood frames, some have gold frames, some have silvery frames, and they all different styles.

Here are a few for you to get an idea.

Another thing you can think about is maybe a deeper color rug in the living room.

Aside from the sheer practicality of it, a rich deep color rug gives such a sense of luxury.

You can get this from a modern rug or a hand made Oriental rug in a woven type kilim or knotted Persian type rug.

These days, you can get a quality hand knotted Persian rug for not much money at all.

The picture that was too slim for over your sofa might be the right size to mount over your bar counter.

Also, on the side of that arch where you have round mirrors, if you want to continue the blue aqua theme, there are wonderful round blue/aqua plates from different countries you can put up there.

Do you have any friends or coworkers from Iran? If they go back on a visit, ask them to bring you back some decorative plates from Isfahan. They will just knock your socks off. Or a vase you can display on a pedestal that you mount on the wall.

The pottery industry in Isfahan is ancient and very advanced and they specialize in the blue colors that you like.

If a coworker is going to Jerusalem, or anywhere else in the Middle East, they also do wonderful ceramics in blue.

In Indonesia they make exquisite beaded baskets.

You have lots of ways to introduce more color in your lovely new home.

Such great suggestions, however, I have spent a great deal of money into the house. I just had it built and close March 7th. I won't be able to change the lights , rugs, and some of the items suggested. I much rather decorate with the existing items in the room. I will consider making changes further down the road. If you can select curtains and accent side tables, that would help keep the cost down, and I won't have to return anything.

I like light-colored curtains, I think curtains that are like your sofas would be perfect, either in a solid color or a very subtle print.

Even though you are decorating step by step now, you do need to think about the whole look for the future.

You want your curtains to go with your artwork and your rug.

You don't want the room to be too "busy."

That would not be very restful.

It's a fine line between interesting and busy.

And restful and boring.

You also want to think about what type of curtains you want in the atrium room, because it would be a good idea to have the same curtains in both rooms, assuming you are going to have curtains in both rooms.

If you will be watching television during the day, and or you need the curtains for privacy, you need curtains with a tight weave or a heavier weight fabric, or ones that are lined with a blackout lining so the light doesn't shine through.

If privacy isn't an issue or you will only watch television at night, sheer curtains are very pretty.

You can also get curtains that don't have any pattern at all, or just have a trim at the edge or the top in royal or navy blue.

As for side tables, what you should get depends on what type of media table you buy and where you will put it.
