I'm having an underground drain with pvc pipe installed from the back of the lot to break through a cement foundation that supports a brick wall which separates the back of the lot from the front. A landscaped bed is directly in from of the brick wall, on the street side. The installer plans to have the drain exit the under the front flower bed to flow onto river rock just past the bed. His reason for doing so is that the front of the lot has a steep gradual slope in elevation from brick wall, across the lawn, down to the front curb. He thinks that taking the drain all the way to the curb would be overkill. This sounds logical to me but would appreciate feedback from the forum to be on the safe side.

During the 4 day deluge of rain during Harvey, a "river"" of water ran from the front sidewalk, down the driveway, and to the street. The problem was the "lake" of water that stood along the side, in the back, until the rain subsided. Had the lot not been sloped to the left side in the back, and dropped steeply forward in the front, my home would have flooded.
