Should I dig up and replant a fruit tree?

I have two nectarine trees planted about 18" apart. Due to some bad pruning decisions on my part, they are growing right into each other. Pruning them apart won't help at all. One is all left right side, and so is the other. Seriously. It's clear that more dramatic action needs to be taken here.

Should I:

A. Dig one up and rotate it. they've only been in the ground a year so while this would cause damage, it might not be too bad. This configuration would be aesthetically perfect.

Alternately, I could just chop off all the growth on one of them, and let some new shoots bud out without digging up the thing.

Which is best?
