I bought some tulle thinking I would wrap my trees in it too but the fabric was not wide enough to cover my trees all the way down to my pots. Maybe your trees are shorter and it will work for you. Let me know how it works. I may have to do some sewing to make it fit. lol. The new growth only needs to be protected so maybe premade organza bags would be my answer. In the meantime, I am going to use what I purchased in my garden to protect my squash from borers and stink bugs.

The tulle I want to use if 108" (9') wide, much wider than what I've seen in fabric stores. It's described in an Amazon review as soft rather than stiff. The price is low on a per yard basis, but that's because it comes in a 50 yd bolt.

Did you have reason to believe that tulle would keep out CLM moths, or were you using it for a different pest?

I've also been bagging some new growth using nylon paint strainer bags (Amazon, or Home Depot). 5 gal is the largest I've found and it works well but is a hassle securing the open end around the lower part of a branch...I use clothespins. They are about 120 mesh which is way small enough and you only need to use them on the branches with new growth but that can be a lot of branches. I don't like the way the leaves get bend downward, but that's going to happen with anything that hangs over the tree.
