How would you tile this shower ?

Hi all! Need your input please :) The white tile is a 24x12 wall tile which will be tiled vertically in the shower and that whole shower/bath wall you see. The brown is the shower floor tile.

I’m thinking of doing a big vertical rectangle mosaic wall on one wall of the shower (maybe 24wx48h in) What do you think? If I do, do you think I need a trim piece surrounding it ? Any other ideas is much appreciated on how to use that mosaic. Thank you! Thank you!

Something like this ? Maybe ?

Wow, that's alot of wall tile. I'm no design expert, but the wall tile you've selected is very elegant and classic. The 70's throwback patchwork tile doesn't go with the style at all. I perstonally don't care for it and think it will date your remodel very quickly. I hope Beth H. sees this thread and pops in. She has a really good eye for tile. As do many other regulars here. :)

I would put it on the fixture wall since there's a lot going on on the back wall with the tub and window. You would be facing it while showering, which is really where you want it to be to enjoy it.

You could do a porcelain marble or gray liner. I don't see how brown fits into your color scheme so I'd change the shower floor mosaic to a soft gray.

I think it's more of a Scandanavian look than a quilt look. It's a miniature version of those hand-painted encaustic square tiles that are so popular now. I would choose something more classic myself, to go with the marble.

that's beautiful Jerry. it's real marble? are you prepared to baby that in your shower? you have to use special cleaners, seal it yearly, and be careful if anyone has dyed their hair!

There’s mother of pearl in that so the sales guy at floor and decor told me to skip it as a floor tile because it’ll eventually chip. :(

yes,,but you could use that as your accent. next to your marble tile, it would be beautiful. Look at some of the designs below.

for the floor, just use a gray or white hex porcelain, or if you like the marble, do a 2" or 3" hex tile. mine are 3",,,there is enough grout for traction (and my marble is honed) but not so much that you have to worry about the grout and cleaning it daily!

    few examples

notice on the one above how the design is perfectly placed so that there are full tiles above and below. no skinny tiles! that is a herringbone mosaic, surround w/marble liners or chair rail liners. you could also do a low profile schluter edge.

Vertical tile mosaics are a bit funky IMO. I would use that hexagon tile and go with a waterfall down the middle. Unique and bold. Also would think about going either brass hardware, not sure of your selection at the moment.

Beth, those photos are gorgeous! They make me second guess my decision to use the same marble Mosaic on my shower floor as the regular floor. I love how the matching carrara tone quietly pulls the different patterns together. Oh well, too late now, no more changes! It probably wouldn't look as nice in my bathroom in reality, anyway. :)

OP, I tried using a porcelain hex tile with marble and it looked bad once I got it laid out together. The porcelain was not the same tone as the marble, too creamy. Be sure to see if you can find one that's a bright or grayish white, if you decide to go in that direction.

dottie, yes,,real marble against porcelain marble doesn't look right. he would have to use a real marble hex, or go w/a solid hex. It's like try to match real wood w/those porcelain wood look tiles. they just don't work well together.

    It’s not real marble

Thanks for your message and recommendation Beth! The niche is a good call. How do you think this will work for wall tile and shower floor and niche ?

I think it looks nice. it looks like a good match. if that is fake marble, it's a really good fake. just know, if you put that marble on the floor, you must clean the entire shower w/stone safe cleaner,,,even the porcelain stuff. anything that runs off the wall onto the marble floor that isn't stone safe, will etch the marble. even with a sealer. I would also do a stain proof gray grout,,,no white.
