I need help finding an ideal window treatment solution. We have a set of windows (maybe a form of a bay window?) that sets out from the walls about 6 inches down from the 8' ceilings and sets about 18" out past where our wall ends. I would like to have bamboo shades installed to raise and lower each day and non-functional curtain panels to add some color. However I can't decide where to hang the curtains. If I hang them directly over the windows, there's only 1-2" of space above the trim to hang a curtain rod and I'm not sure that will look great. We currently have some temporarily hung like this and they seem short and stumpy. I like the thought of hanging the curtain rod closer to the ceiling, however due to the ceiling ending 18" before the windows it seems odd. For instance, if I hang the curtains close to the ceiling and they were closed, the curtains would hang where the second sofa is. Thoughts on which is the lesser of the two evils? Or someone have a solution I haven't thought of?
