Decorating Help!

Hi All- in need of some design help for my condo.

Hardwood floors are in process! Will get the striped chair re-upholstered too!

Art work ideas? Rug color for under the couch/chair? Add drapes? Art work behind couch?

Do I need end tables? Mount the TV?

Thanks!

All I see is brown and square. Too much furniture. I would remove the leather chair and as suggested above use the console table for the TV. Then get a rug to start your color palette. Should probably be 8x10 so front legs of sofa are on it. No skimpy thing set in middle of floor. What you have hung on the walls now is too high and again brown. Switch floor lamp to other end of sofa. Get a table for where floor lamp is now and a small table to be used next to reupholstered chair which will go in place of the leather chair. Window looks to be deeply recessed so you may like a faux roman shade hung on the wall above the window but I can't see the top of the window in the pictures so not sure. I would no to panels as they will clutter a small space. A round coffee table for visual interest

I agree, a large and colorful rug should be the first purchase, and a glass and metal coffee table to visually enlarge this room. The guitar and painting and all the small items on the window sill detract from this room. The floor lamp looks awkward in this space as does the chest on the right which is messy; I'm not sure what's on top of it, but this could be a base for the TV with all the clutter removed.

You have too many pieces of brown items in that space. You need to find someone with some decorating sense to help you come up with a plan and a budget. There is too much wrong to start just ripping it apart here, so without a more specific question that is my best advice.

We think you need a rug with a little color in it, and we do agree with reupholstering the chair. It might also be nice to see some plant life around. Maybe take a few items down off the walls and place them elsewhere. Have the lamp between the chair and couch and then place a tall green plant on the other side. It also looks like you might be able to make a cool gallery wall around your TV area with your art if you place it around it correctly. Note our two designs we've included to help some.

Thanks everyone for your ideas & help. Making some changes:

    • Removed the low TV stand & now have the TV on a higher piece.
    • Added a rug with some color!
    • Going to reupholster the chair!
    • Removed the entryway table with the chalkboard & it will be replaced with a giant floor length mirror!

Also, I love the idea of getting some tall plants! Thank You!

not sure why you would need a full-length mirror there? Love the new rug! Tv looks much better too!! *Clapping
