Left alone most citrus (but lemons and their close relatives) in time acquire a nice attractive shape. Usually the only shaping needed is skirting them a bit.

Most of mine came from the grower already pruned- just randomly chosen cuts is my guess. Now I need to fix them. Trying to upload pics but they are not showing up.

Nagami kumquat, from logees. All the branches grow sideways from the graft. Tried tying one to upright stake, didn't work well.

Tahiti lime.

Long branch on left growing sideways. Tied up for now, but I think it should get cut back a bit. Now it flowered and has a few limes

Your tree will drop the limb when it is time. It needs the leaves for now.
