Help with white kitchen selections

We are about to start our whole house renovation and right now I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on my kitchen selections. So far I have chosen white cabinets, navy blue island, plain white quarts countertops, carrera tile (bianco venato ROBV36), medium LVP flooring, walls will be a light grey, either silver satin or grey owl Benjamin Moore. Trim will be white to match cabinets. I’m worried that the cabinet, backsplash, countertop whites will clash as they’re all a bit different. The carrera backsplash has some grey in it but should we did a grey grout to give it a bit more contrast with the cabinets and counters? I really love the look of a white kitchen I just afraid of the whites not looking good together. Here is a photo of the samples. Thoughts?

I definitely like the high contrast look of the navy blue island. The only grey will be on the walls ( throughout entire main floor) and the a bit on the backsplash. Here my inspiration photo:

Whites never match perfectly. My theory is that as long as you have at least three different whites, it looks fine.

We did a white and blue kitchen with marble counters. I chose white tile with white grout for the part of the backsplash that was tiled because I wanted the marble counters to stand out—IMO, different color grout tends to make the tile stand out more.

(Sorry for the random picture placement, Houzz does that to me sometimes and I don’t have time to fix it right now.)

Thank you @crl_ that’s exactly what I needed to know! I love your kitchen. Are those double faucets? Brilliant!

I'm not a pro. I like your inspiration picture a lot but the blue you chose for your island is a lot darker, which is fine if you want more of a contrast, but I think Sophie is right in that a little lighter blue would work better. You can always try getting that color at a 50% intensity and see if you like it (and practice on a piece of spare wood to get an idea of what it would look like).

To answer your question though, whites are hard to match and I think having different shades is fine. My SIL just redid her kitchen and she went with white cabinets, a busy white quartz (Cambria Summerhill), grey walls, white glass subway tiles and white crown molding on the walls. None of the whites are exactly the same but they all play together nicely. She wanted the counters to be the star so she went with white grout for the backsplash.

Thanks. Yes, it’s a kohler stages 45 sink with two faucets. Very functional.

I really like your choices. Different white tones create a layering kind of vibe. I think it will look lovely.

Maybe a slightly warmer grey for the wall color...

I'd like to see the Navy sample standing up. It photographs almost black on my phone.

I agree with palimpsest...a warmer grey would look better with your selections. I tried to use Gray Owl in my house and it had a slight green undertone to it. I'm sure it was my light. I live in Dallas and have lots of windows. I ended up using BM Fog Mist (OC-31). It's more of a "greige" color but on the same tonal (depth?) level as Gray Owl. It's very light and bright and super easy to work with!

I also agree that your island might be a bit dark. It reads black on my monitor. Stand it up...that's how it will be in your home.

In real life whites will not match... different materials, sheen. But try to get the same undertone of white (you know what I mean some looks pink, blue, etc). As for grout we had a white kitchen, white paint, white subway, blue/gray gabbro slab counter. We went with darker gray grout and liked it. It makes the subway standout alot and it was historically accurate for what we wanted (the house was from 20's).

I did a white and navy kitchen a few years ago when I designed a new showroom. The money ran out before the lighting was really addressed. That made the navy appear to be really dark, almost black. It's about the color of your choice. I fear you may have the same issue with your navy. So I'd suggest being sure to pay attention to your lighting plan right now, when running wires is a lot easier to do.

We matched the navy for the walls, and it gave it a big boost to have that contrast. There's not a lot of wall space in a kitchen by the time the backsplash and everything else takes up space. So, don't be afraid of introducing the darker navy in other small quantities. As long as your lighting is done to show it off.

Thank you @ the cooks kitchen! Our main floor is very open with a lot of windows so we shouldn’t have a problem with lighting. We will also have lots of pot lights in that area of the house. I love the navy blue wall idea!
