In our experience Lutron is going to be your best bet-- either Caseta or RA2/RA2 Select. Caseta has a max of 50 devices which can add up quickly if you decide you want to automate other lighting after you do these. RA2/RA2 select can go much higher before they max out. The main brain for Lutron is hard wired to the Internet however it uses "Clear Connect" to communicate to its switches at the 1.9Ghz frequency. It is a Star-based topology meaning that each device communicates with the brain but not each other. Clear Connect is proprietary to Lutron. There are other DIY smart lighting systems out there that use Z-wave instead which is a mesh-based topology that communications at 900Mhz. Their brain is also hard wired to the internet. Mesh-based means that only only to all devices communicate with the main brain they also communicate with each other. They are also "self-healing" meaning that if a Z-wave device is removed the remaining Z-wave devices re-route their communication. Still further are other pro-systems that use protocols like Zigbee to communicate which is also a mesh-based topology and is very similar to Z-wave except that it uses the 2.4Ghz frequency, similar to Wifi.
