I have never seen it like this. I used to go to the garden forum and there was an alphabetical listing. And I could find African violets, Begonias, and gesneriads!!!! Now I can't find any of them in alphabetical order! This is a world gone mad!!!! What shall I do??? Oh what shall I do???? Rosie

well, I'm not too happy about it either. We're finally being fully assimilated in to Houzz I guess ;(

Bookmark the forum and you won't need to search. At least, until they change it again...

What I really dislike is that there doesn't seem to be a way to just go directly to the end of a thread like I used to be able to do. Must I open the thread and scroll all the way down through what I've already read to get to the new part each and every time? Really? What a pain!

Yes! Isn't progress wonderful. As Alabamaav mentioned, if you bookmark the forum, it will take you straight back to the AV forum, similar to how it used to work. So far, thats all I found that helps.

I do like having all the topics I utilize available to the left. That's an improvement and Anne, I've always had to scroll to the bottom of a thread so that isn't anything new for me.

Since we cannot change it - we will get used to it and find advantages... eventually. Way to go, Terrilou!

Terri, I think perhaps I stumbled on that feature by accident - it wasn't obvious. In the view I was using, it used to tell you who had just posted to the end of the thread and you could click there which would take you right to their new post. You could scroll back up if there was more you might have missed, but I never had to scroll down through, say, 90 posts to get to the newest addition. I find that tedious.

But, Irina, you are correct. We'll get used to it all - and adapt to any more changes. When I think back to all that has happened since I first started haunting GW back in 1998, I think it's hardly the same place. And yet, we keep coming back... ;-)

The crowd is sooo nice,,, that's why !

I basically left Dave's Garden because they messed with it, looks like I won't be here very long either. Wonder if the same clowns run both sites?

They say something about not throwing the baby out with the bathwater... If nothing would ever change... we would still be living in the caves...

LETS FIND SOME GOOD FEATURES IN THIS FORMAT! And share them! So we can take advantage of them.

Twenty years ago - posting photos on Gardenweb... was a challenge. Not anymore.

I will add a copy of my help for this forum that I posted earlier.

For those who are having issues with the new forum here is a screen shot of an easy way to get to your favorite houzz forums.

On the left side you will see an "Explore Topics" button at the bottom of the list. You need to click on that to get to the page showing above. Scroll down past Featured Topics until you get to All Topics.

Other than the 1st one for some reason, they will be in alphabetical order. Making your favorite forums much easier to locate. Simply hover your mouse over the title and a follow button will appear. Click on that and your topics of choice will appear in a column on the left. You can then reach each forum you wish to visit with a single click.

    Hope this helps!

Press the "end" key if on a desktop or click on "comment" to go to the bottom of the thread.

Sherry ... those are good tips ...

    Yes, Sherry - thank you!!

I can't take credit for coming up with it on my own. I read about the "end" key a while back and someone since all this started posted about clicking "comment". That is why I like to browse all discussions, as well as my favorites, I pick up such interesting hints! So far, the only way I have found to get all discussions is to log out and scan as a visitor.

I wish they would fix this. They should of left it alone, but since they didn't, they need to fix. I still haven't tried to start a new post. That seems to be a real nightmare. The other thing is the way what works on one browser doesn't work on another.

Am I the only one noticing the amount of postings in the AV forum that have NOTHING to do with AV's or gesneriads???? So many times I want to post something to them,,,,but I don't want to be mean. But these questions have NOTHING to do with AV's or gesneriads!!!! Thanks a lot houzz---NOT!!!! (on a rant) Rosie

Rosie, it's actually people's fault. They don't pay attention to suggested cross posting and just click ok.

Oh I know! But sooooo frustrating! Rosie

And you can boost your knowledge not only about violets- but about ACs, fence repair and other exciting things. By the way,,, regarding fixing microwaves..oh, stop..
