We are trying to figure out if we should keep this fireplace in our new kitchen or get rid of it and maybe recess the fridges where the chimney and firebox used to be. The room is 13x17. There is also a room behind this one that is 6x19 and can be combined with the current den where the fireplace is and where we wish to relocate the kitchen. We thought perhaps the brickwork around the fireplace would go well with the cabinet color and style. However we will also lose some space (but it will be cheaper as well).
