OldDutch, I really admire your strategy of inter-planting tulips with your garlic... it must make your garlic beds look so cheerful in Spring. I couldn't do that here unless I fenced in my garlic, to the resident deer that would just be tulip salad... and they would trample the garlic as they fed. Sure wish I could, I really love tulips.

Here are the bulbs cleaned and close to ready to bag up. It looks to me like easily half are blooming size. These are red Appledoorns, and this would be their 5th year with me, dug every late spring and reset every fall along with my garlics. I will give them a few more days before bagging them up. I like them well enough but they are proving to be just a little short and a bit too early; so I may try a few of something else next fall.
