I haven't but I remember researching Lush a few years ago think it was about a bath bar and reading Lush has a good rep. The shampio bar sounds like it smells nice. Cavimum if you decide to try it please let us know your thoughts.

MizLizzie - can you find out which “flavor” she uses? I’m allergic to so many things!

She says the Godiva bar smells best and is most conditioning. She calls in a “2-in-1 bar,” so I guess you don’t need much conditioner with it. She also likes the rose argon and the seaweed.

I've seen stuff from Lush at TJMaxx before. I'll have to look next time I'm there. I'd love to try the Lush shamoo bars and conditioner.

There used to be a member here, Sandy who made homemade shampoo bars. She sent me some which were so lovely.

I miss Sandy too, mamap. What happened? I also want to know how Cavimum likes the LUSH bar shampoo. Anybody else try it? Right now I really like Avalon Organics Tea Tree (something) shampoo because of my (bleeping) sensitive scalp but who knows how long THAT will last. Somebody say something about the LUSH!!!!

Pat - I have not tried the LUSH bar shampoo yet, and I'm still pondering it due to the price + shipping. If I do end up giving it a try, I will let you know how I like it.

Have you tried the Vanicream F&C shampoo for your scalp? Tea tree oil can be very drying to the skin --- I use it for zits. :-o

Cavimum, I tried the Free and Clear shampoo some years ago and it made my scalp itch worse, but I see on Amazon one may have to use it several times before it stops the irritation. That doesn't make me happy because I feel if it is going to work, it shouldn't take several times. BUT because YOU mentioned it, I will buy it again and try it. Hubs ends up with all the shampoos and soaps I can't use.

I picked one up at our local LUSH store. I didn’t care for the Godiva scent, and the clerk said “Honey, I Washed My Hair” was the next most conditioning. Gosh darn, does it soap up! My husband is hooked. Pricey, but great for air travel. It might even come out ahead, costwise, over bottles. Gotta see how long it lasts. I also got a conditioner bar — didn’t care much for it, but if you like a light conditioner, it might please.

Also, a side note — wouldn’t suggest buying stuff like this at Amazon. There is so much fake crap for sale on Amazon it disheartens me. Especially in the cosmetic and pharmacy lines. Kitchenware. Some electronics. They don’t police what they sell at all now.

Shampoo bars are great for travel and I like that there's no bottle in the shower. My favorite anything is with the scent Honey I Washed the Kids...

Trichomania is, for me, the most conditioning.

There's an online-only one for sensitive scalps called Lullaby...haven't tried it but it may be good for those of you with skin issues.

They make solid conditioners also...the jury is still out on these for me

Following up on this . . .. Between price and shipping costs, and all my skin sensitivities (allergies) to various plant based things, I'm not going to try the Lush Bars. I saw this discussion today and decided it's not for me.

Yes...Lush is largely plant based so it's probably not for you.

Ya you and our wonderful Pat both have really cranky (as Pat puts it) skin. Always best to avoid things that may aggravate you. I was going to look in TJMaxx for the Lush but forgot about it when I ran in looking thru their kids clearance clothing for school. Next time if I remember. pennydesign - I have no desire to make my own shampoo bars, but thank you for the idea.

I'm looking for a way to avoid packing lots of liquid shampoo for a long trip, and I'm allergic to cocamidopropyl betaine, which is in 98% of all shampoos including hotels. I'll just use the J.R. Liggett (that has served us well) as a pre-wash, and then I don't go thru so much liquid shampoo that I'll have to pack. I've done it before, so I know it works. I have to pack my own laundry detergent when I travel, too, for the hand laundry in the sink --- the price of packing light --- and worth it.

mamap - yep, we are all allergic and often to different things, so what makes one itch doesn't bother the other, etc., and I've learned to read ingredients lists.

Cavimum, do you like the J R Liggett shampoo bar better than any other shampoo, bar or otherwise?

Pat, the Liggett bar shampoo is nice, and I have not used any other bar shampoo brands. I use their most basic formula. My hair is shoulder length, and I think the bar shampoo works better for shorter hair. I use it as a first lather, to remove hairspray, etc., and that helps me use less liquid for the second lather. Conditioner is definitely needed. I mostly use the bar soap for trips so that I don't have to bring as much liquid shampoo in my carryon. That 3oz limit is a pain, but I get it.

Lately, I've been using California Baby liquid shampoo.. No coco-bet in it. I used to be able to buy it at the local Target, but the last time I needed more, I had to buy direct from the Calif Baby website. I use a Paul Mitchell leave-in conditioner.

Cavimum, I also prefer Vanicream bar soap in the shower, but can you tell me which body lotion you prefer to put on after washing or anytime?

Pat - I like the Cetaphil lotion, especially in summer. I've used the Vanicream lotions and creams and I prefer the Cetaphil. In winter, during really cold weather and the air gets so dry, I'll use the Aveeno unscented lotion in a tube, because there is so much waste at the bottom of a pump bottle.

Cavimum, have you tried any goat milk soap? The Beekman 1802 is so damn expensive, but . . . . .

Pat, no I have not so many brands, etc. What I'm using now works, so if it ain't broke . . .

I tried one of the shampoo bars and HATED it - absolutely hated it. It was a slimy mess in the shower and made my hair feel just...gross. Also if you are sensitive to scents, stay far far away from Lush -- the scents can be overpowering, I actually avoid walking past the store when I'm in the mall because all that scent on display almost knocks me out.

mxk3 - good to know about the scents. That alone makes this brand a no-go. I'm very scent-sitive.
