Use ties instead

Is there any batting? Suppose you put a thin layer in the middle, would that stop this? Nice quilt top, btw.

Yes, there is batting. Tying would be an option.

What is your quilting design? Are you straight line quilting or doing an all over "swirly" pattern. Can you quilt with the back on top? Just a thought. I have never worked with minky so not sure if it would work..

Theresa, I was doing my signature swirly pattern. I can't imagine working from the back. I'll give it a try on a sample, but not today. I think I need to work on something non-problematic today.

Well, I solved the problem of the minky pulling through with the stitching. I tore the backing off, no small feat since I had sandwiched the quilt with glue. Plenty of batting pulled off with the backing, but I soaked it in water, collected the loose batting fluff so it wouldn't clog my washer or pipes and threw the backing in the washer. I'll just hem that piece and make a fleece blanket for our great-grandson who will be visiting next month. I left the batting attached to the top, and I'll just glue another backing on. Live and learn. No long-fibered minky from now on.

Glad you found a solution! I recall something about using a smaller needle when quilting minky, so it doesn't pull through to the other side.
