Weird Lemon Bark

last modified: 8 years ago

Hello,

I have two lemons that I grew from seed two years ago that share the same part with 2 grapefruits (also started from seed).

Despite a rather bad spider mite infestation (in the clear now) they have all been doing quite well. However, one of the lemons is not doing well at all compared to the other one. Most of the main top growth has seized and its leaves have begun to turn yellow and fall off. Also most noticeable is the bark of the top portion of the plant is dark brown and cracked. Yet the bottom of the plant seems to have a normal stem appearance. It also has new growth at its base so Im wondering what the issue might be with it?

Im confused on what to do it almost looks like some sort of disease.

I was thinking if maybe just cutting the portion of the plant that has the bark issue but not sure if this is the best option. As that’s a large portion of the plant.

I tried to take some pictures. Anyone know what is going on? Thanks.
