can you use marble tile backsplash safely behind stovetop

Is it better to use standard white subway tile backsplash for white kitchen.

    Marble is porous so it may be an issue behind a stove. But there may be ways to seal the marble. I would discuss this with a tile designer. You can also select a ceramic subway tile which would be easier to maintain. Make sure that the grout lines are as thin a possible for a more up to date look and less maintenance.
