Your favorite and not so much Lakesides please

Looking at my Lakesides in the garden they probably all will pass Ken's driveway test. Chicago weather must agree with them as they are most resilient of the hostas I have.

Would love to see your specimens, picture worthy and imperfect. Looking to get few more ideas.

Lakeside Dragonfly is one of my favorites. Small and beautiful. This is last years pic, it’s gorgoeous again this year I just don’t have the pics filed yet.

Lakeside Surf Runner- I’m so infatuated with this Hosta I’m thinking about buying a second one. This one’s planted in the far corner of the garden that may be next to a driveway someday, so I want it to be impressive by then, but I want one right in the middle of the garden so I can show it off NOW!

Lakeside Kaleidescope is small and beautiful.

There are others in the garden, but these are the standouts. Lakeside Cha Cha has underwhelmed me for three years now. Lakeside Babyface is cute and vigorous.

Lakeside Kaleidoscope. I like lot if it's leaf edges.

Newbie from last year Lakeside Little Turf. It had beautiful flowers last year, waiting to see them again.

Still young, but I bet will look good when it matures. Lakeside Prophecy Furfilled

Lakeside Prophecy, can't wait to grow.

The one I don't like is Lakeside Dragonfly, because it died. But I bought new one and I like it, it's alive, LOL

I certainly do love Lakeside Roy El. Grew very fast for me, but, sadly, never came up in spring 2016. I'd definitely buy another.

Lakeside Prophecy Fulfilled had been on my wishlist since I started collecting...got it this year and hope it will stay...

    Lakeside Prophecy

3rd year...Lakeside Dragonfly starting to grow...

I have 17 Lakesides, big and small and I like them all. Bad performances happen due to weather problems or slug attacks, but they all recovered and that's what counts.

Aww, thing is I love them all. Thank you for sharing!

Oh yes, Dave, please go on! Seeing those beautiful plants is uber helpful, Hosta library is only helpful so much so this forum is very valuable to me. Am going to be looking and making list.

Is that Surf Rider lives in that barrel? I have no space in the ground for giants but pots are different...

seems everyone loves Kaleidoscope, and Dragonfly, such distinct hostas. Totally need that LS little tuft...

I remember about 2009-20011 LS Breaking News and Cindy Cee were easily avail everywhere, now ... oops. Love them both, will see if I can find it.

LS Prophecy and Paisley print belong in every garden, don't they?

Lakeside Paisley Print--I've got 2 and both are doing well. I got Prophecy and Prophecy Fulfilled last year--Prophecy is not that good looking but Prophecy Fulfilled is doing very well. I have 2 Shoremasters that are struggling. I also got a large clump of Hazy Morn from Wade and Gatton last summer--that is growing very well. I have more but none jump out as being fantastic.

Love those hostas...Yellow on Banana Bay are so eye catching... And everyone seems to have different Kaleidoscope.

How much sun hostas like Looking glass should get? Also does anyone grow Midnight Miss? How do you keep it dark green? Just potted Midnight Miss and April Snow

lindalana I would give LS Looking Glass morning sun or dappled sun/shade all day. Mine gets sun until approx. 2:30 - 3:00 and it is a bit too much for it.

Lakeside Dragonfly. It took me 5 years to warm up to it. Bought in 4/12/12 at Costco, bag of 5 bareroot. Caught me in a weak moment in early April when the garden was still winter barren and the picture on the package was to much to pass up.

It took 5 years to go from bare root to maturity. This one in the photo is half of the one I split in two last month. I like it now.

I've gotten a bunch of new Lakesides (for me) this year so not a lot of info yet on how well they grow. From previous years I've really liked L. Old Smokey and L. Cupcake did not do well for me. I don't hear much about L. Keepsake or L. Full Tide (new to me this year) or L. Symphony (still on my list).

    L. Keepsake

    L. Full Tide

    L. Symphony

    with its subtle variegation

and just when I passed on getting L. Kaleidoscope, someone posts a must have type picture (thanks Jessica).

I forgot to mention Lakeside Color Blue, new to me this year. I planted it in a shady area and it was very forgettable. I moved it into some morning sun on a hillside and the green stems reflected light under the blue leaves giving them a nice soft glow. Hard to capture in a pic.

Huh, good to know! I am well on my way creating Lakesides collection and got LS Color Blue. I will make sure to place it into light-ish place.

Moved my new Color Blue in sunnier spot there is such a good mist on the leaves this way, loving it.

Surprisingly got LS Breaking News from Cochato Nursery and LS Cindy Cee from Daylilies by the pond. Both places were fantastic to deal with, send nice division of mature plant. Am well on my way with Lakeside collection, happy.

    Lakeside Spellbinder, new this year

Lakeside Storm Watch, also new this year

Lakeside Dragonfly, new last year. Something tends to eat it. Haven't seen slugs on it, but by the end of the season it looked pretty ratty. Hopefully it gets better as it ages or maybe it needs a new location.

    h. 'Lake Superior.' According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis, "one of the rare orginations from Mary Chastain of Tennessee not bearing the 'Lakeside' designation."

Ran Lydell registered this hosta. It is a very large plant when mature.
