Does this type of flooring work well near the water?

Heart Pine flooring, when properly milled, is a dimensionally stable product that deals well with expansion and contraction due to humidity and temperature change. We grade our Heart Pine into six different products, some of which have better stability than others.

If you're asking about the flooring being in the kitchen, near water sources such as sinks and dishwashers, then yes - Heart Pine is a hard and tough wood that is really closer in density to a White Oak than a softer white pine. When properly installed and finished, it's absolutely fantastic in a kitchen application. Here's a beach house bathroom we did in Heart Pine:

The darker and richer color in your photo will be brought out over time with exposure to sunlight, but that process can be hurried along with the right finish.

I can't get over the gorgeous floor color! The pine in my kitchen is about 80 yrs old and probably too yellowed with age to achieve this color, but can you share the stain used?
