Good airflow is important, so if it is clear that you need to remove foliage to keep that good airflow, then pinch away some suckers. But don't remove a sucker just because it's a sucker. Many people do, and I've never understood that. Remove it if it will actually make the plant too dense.

I do have a marzano next to it, in a raised bed; and spacing is tight, so trying to grow more vertical than sideways. That's why I was removing the suckers. Somehow I must have read something wrong, and didn't realize that the Ramapo wasn't indeterminate. I have a Brandywine and a supersweet in the ground in a separate plot about 3 feet apart, and am not pruning or removing suckers there, since space isn't an issue...
