Aloha Rox! I took you advice of using Excalibur and very glad. My plants have so many buds this year. They show buds before producing any leaf. Do I need to concern about this? I do, as a matter of the fact. LOL. Even one foot cuttings that I didn't expect them to flower. They produce buds already. Nice flower Rox!

I have several that grow and bloom that way....JJs SAFARI for one...

I got PV from Ebay many years ago. It was a well known vendor but I couldn't recall. Will let you know when I find out. This one is not color splash tho.

My PV would only splash every other year or so!! I believe it was heat related splash...

Heat related or virus?

This cultivar has many opinions about whether it's heat related splash versus virus. Some stay away from this cultivar because they believe it does carry the virus.. some believe it could be brought on by heat. I personally had two trees and they were very large. I did have a splash a few times in Fives years or so.

Its a beautiful pink bloom and I just decided that it was time for me to move this tree from my collection because it didn't preform like I needed.. it was difficult to pass it along to other collectors who feared for the virus, but I dont believe that it truly does have this MV that others speak of. Others will say otherwise!!

I have also heard that many years ago these cutting went for over 500 -1000 dollars!!

Princess Victoria aka Metairie Pink, Lavender Pink Blush, Lavender Splash. Creamy white/pink with red virus streaks. Yellow center. White and pink
flowers are occasionally speckled with deep red streaks and sprinkles after the plant matures. Very striking. Mild sweet lilac fragrance. Well balanced
and easy to grow. Pubescent new growth. White and pink with a unique splash of blood red. The center has a sunshine ring. ALL FLOWERS DO NOT
HAVE THIS VARIEGATION. Some heads have a few variegated flowers while others only carry the pink, white, and yellow color. It sometimes takes up
to three years before variegation occurs. Medium, well proportioned growth habit. 2.5-3” and a soft, nice texture. The flowers are large, have a nice
perfume, and every tip gets an inflo every year. It produces masses of flowers, and is also the first to bloom and last to finish, pubescent stalk. Pink and
a touch of pale pink toward middle and yellow center, 3", some flowers will be very dark pink and some will be red with splash of white, light scent.
Grows like a weed. It was named after the creator's wife, Victoria Rosselli. Limbs have a soft, slightly fur like texture. Only a few flowers spot and splash
reds and pinks and actually variegate. When the 2-3" speckled pink and red flower variegation finally appears it is a spectacular sight. Well-balanced
form and is easy to grow. The fragrance is mild and sweet. One of the most floriferous. It's a prolific bloomer and I love the shape - the small leaves
curve down gracefully, like an umbrella. Sets seed.

i gave my large tree to my nephew and he says it's blooming, so I will keep an eye on his tree and let you all know. I'll also find a picture of the one stripe that I had on one of my blooms!!

It's a great blooming plant. It probably starts early blooms in late April and produces until October for me. I would not base the potential for a virus as being the deciding factor on having one of these. IMO The issue really comes down to how many pink with yellow throats do you want to have. Just to illustrate that point...I have one picture from early May of a PV bloom. Why? because at that point there was hardly anything else worth taking pictures. After that point all the other more exciting blooms started opening. In other words if it wasn't for the potential of a color break some might find it boring.

The only other Pink/yellow combo I have is an unknown I call "Give Away Pink". It is enough different to make keeping both of interest to me.

The color break hasn't occurred to my PV. PV has a uniqueness of being furry both on its tip and its stem. I habitually lose all labels of plants. I don't need to lable this one lol.

It’s a beautiful cultivar and I agree with K that If you have enough pink blooms then you are alright with what you have.. but if you are totally in love with this beauty and waiting for the color break, then this is one for you!!

This is why we all have different taste and have many different cultivars in our collections!!

Thanks Laura. I think you summed it up. Good Point Boom. It is easy to spot a Fuzzy PV.

Here is a bloom picture from yesterday. Nice big flowers on big inflos on most tips.

and a whole tree picture to show attractive growth habit and shape. I have it in 8 hours of sun and 2-3 hours mixed shade (it's on the north perimeter of a giant Texas Live Oak canopy so it gets some afternoon shade from the canopy top and then gets late afternoon full sun again.
