I have no idea what's in her room or what it looks like, but I redid my daughter's room a year ago (she was 17) with new furniture, painted the walls a neutral Revere Pewter, then painted the ceiling a light aqua blue (she has a few turquoise accents like pillows and a chair in the room although most of it is neutral) and hung a fun white lighting fixture cheap from IKEA. I love the the colored ceiling, leaves a little unexpected fun in a mostly adult-looking room. Just a thought .

are you painting yourself? If you are it will be a butt load easier to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls!

phorton61 - Since she wants to keep everything neutral, I don't think she'll want a blue ceiling, just because it commits her to accessories in blue/aqua. I'm doubting her choice a bit and I think I could talk her into a super light gray, but colors like Repose Gray, Useful Gray she says are too dark. Melissa R - yes I'm painting myself, but using two paint colors doesn't bother me, I paint a lot.
