Long overdue, need some help!

We built our tri-level home in 1996 and havent made any changes since then. I could no longer stand the honey oak so we have taken the plunge to do some major renovations - we are painting inside a darker color - Sherman Williams Perfectly Griege, painting all oak trim white, replacing lower level of house (family, dining and living room) with wood laminate floors, kitchen linoleum floor being replaced with white laminate, Formica countertop being replaced with granite and upstair bedrooms, hallways and stairs with new carpet. The kitchen upper oak cabinets will be replaced with flat panels (no longer want cathedral design) and stained with General Finishes Java. Will keep bottom recessed cabinets and just stain them. Bathroom vanities will also be restained. Lastly, new stainless steel appliances. My dilemma is what do I do with bannister around kitchen to give it a more updated look? Not sure if we want two tone look? Should it be all white? The bannister I have going up stairs we painted all white but may change that? I can’t decide I’ve included pics of what we’ve done so far and the selections we have chosen for paint, flooring etc. Thanks for any responses!
