Could you please take a couple more photos of the plant? One photo from further away so we can see it's shape/form, and one much more close up, so we can clearly see the intricasies of the leaves and stems, for an accurate ID. Thanks!

Agree but it does look like an Aster to me.

The stems are round, have short fine hairs and grow from a basal clump.

I agree that it looks like an aster, but whether it is a cultivated variety or not, I don’t know.

'Tis true it could be a wild native, lots of those around; I guess I won't trash it, but I think I will move it -- it is crowding my coreopsis which I value more.
