Hardware Selection

Hi building a new home and I am stumped on my kitchen cabinet hardware selection. Here is my cabinet , marble and backsplash selection. With the dark cabinet. It’s a oak Boca Raton cocoa cabinet, a crema marfil floor, Shaw glass tile in tgn/80 color 275 if that helps. My sink and faucet are stainless steel. My decor style is transitional.. I want something that compliments my cabinet but also not anything too masculine. I love the hardware in the picture below with the white cabinets just not sure how that would look with my style cabinet and everything else. I like the stainless steel bar I’m holding there just again fearing it looking to hard and modern the shiny glass backsplash and countertop hopefully softens the look. It’s hard to tell from just one piece. Help is appreciated thanks!

I would go for the final choice you posted. The 1st pic we have had clients mention that they catch on clothes. The 2nd is rounded in profile and I think the bottom pic goes with the straight lines of the cabinet better.

Oh ok makes sense . Thank you for the input. What about these Felipe?

They go well too. It is your personal taste. You will not go wrong with any of the choice you posted. You are on the right track.

Do you live (or are building) in 7 Bridges by chance? I know I’ve seen that kitchen before...

I am partial to the one you are holding in the bottom picture since i have something very similar. I like the clean, straight lines of it.

@ Sara , Omg yes we are building , signing off any day ..that is so funny! Lol!
I wonder if we have met? Do you live there or are building too?

I live up in Wellington, but doing a remodel so have looked at those models a hundred times to get ideas. Exciting! We loved that model too (Belvedere). Is that the model you’re building?
Nice! Small world:) I wish! Lol no we are building the Rialto ,but yes, the Belvedere is my fave just a bit out of our price range .. I’ve stolen a bunch of ideas from it lol we wanted a big lot and pool so we went a little smaller plus it’s just me and my fiancé , no kids so it’s plenty room:)

Well, congratulations to you! And I agree with the others, stay away from that busy old school backsplash, go with a bigger subway tile, you’ll be glad you did!

    Thanks Sara. :)
Thank you For the suggestions ,but I actually love it and I had a very renowned interior designer approve it as well ..she uses these tiles all the time ,she said .. and a few were used in the models at my design center which are amazing but most importantly I love it so I’m not worried about it. It looks good to me that’s all that matters. :)

But what about the hardware? Lol

I like to have all my metals essentially the same: brushed stainless and brushed nickel can go in the same kitchen if not right next to each other....there is a very slight color difference. I usually have all knobs, but I will be getting Shaker cabinets this time with 6" top drawers, so I may go with simple bar pulls since the profile reduces the space allotted for the handles.

Oops should have read the question. As long as you love it, go for it!!! I chose brushed nickel for all my new hardware. I got samples of both brushed nickel and stainless and yes, the color difference was so subtle but I liked the weight of the nickel better, felt more substantial. I also didn’t do the bar pulls that get stuck on your clothes when you walk by them, I had those and they are soooo annoying! I like the top ones you picked.
@sara ok so these get stuck on you clothes? Is that was you mean?
I’m just not sure how these rounded ones will look with my cabinet . But I do love them
  • 8 years ago
And I think these look the best .. that is actually my cabinet in the photo and these are what we are leaning towards
  • 8 years ago
The whole catching clothes thought does sound annoying though ugh lol
  • 8 years ago
Yes, like those! I am doing these kind for that very reason! I like the curved ones too, but they add a touch of fem, with their soft edges. Did you ask the designer what she thought would be a good choice?

A little tip, what I have been doing is going to Zillow and looking at all the houses for sale, to get ideas on decorating, and The Bridges and 7 Bridges have great houses for sale to get ideas!! I’m sure you can find a house that has the exact same cabinets as yours for sale and see what they picked! ;)

No not yet she was giving me free advice so I didn’t want to push it IM almost done so not needing her at this point lol do you have picks of your kitchen?

And yes, I know what you mean with the fem and I’m kind of looking for that a bit or least trying to avoid my kitchen looking to masculine or industrial. My taste transitional but more on the traditional side I think. This is my first time doing a new build and have never even done a remodel so I’m still learning about what I like and don’t like just trying to avoid regrets.

Mine is still currently in its unfinished state as you can see lol but this was my inspiration photo for the pulls I bought!

    Oooh beautiful! I love that!

You girls have me second guessing my backsplash now oh man I’m down to the wire too but I definitely don’t want my house to be date ughh this process has been such a nightmare ughh lol I’m sure I am driving my options coordinator crazy with this kitchen I have changed it so many times trying to pick the perfect combo oy vey!

Definitely no on the backsplash, too busy. The last cabinet pull will look great with your cabinets. I don't think its a matter of being masculine/feminine, I think its a clean look that highlights and compliments the lines of your beautiful cabinets. You will never tire of them.

Great advice Stacy ty! can you suggest a countertop and backsplash for me please? I have a crema marfil marble for my floor. I do like warmth not too sterile
  • 8 years ago

Fantasy brown quartzite, madre perla quartzite or taj mahal quartzite would look pretty with your colors. You could go against the tile backsplash trend and continue your quartzite up the backsplash. It's a very sophisticated look, and easy to maintain.

Those are beautiful, just looked them up unfortunately my builder doesn’t offer those:( you can’t do countertops later either unless I rip them out later but I don’t really want to do that. They h s the typical granites and ceaser stone quartz. Can’t do marble
In the kitchen either bc its porous.
