We are having to buy 1 slab of White Macaubus quartzite for our 78” x 56” island. The slab is 73” x 127” so we picked the top left corner for the piece. This leaves a 49” piece on the right and 17” piece on the bottom as “remnants.” It is not large enough to do the L shape counters behind so we are buying Pompeii Avorio quartz countertops for that piece. I think the 49” piece is large enough to save for 2 bathroom vanities in the future but the 17” piece currently doesn’t have a purpose. My question is, can/should we have it cut into tile pieces and used in a backsplash? Can they slice it down the center and make (2) 1.5cm thick pieces for a solid backsplash? Or am I stuck turning it into cutting boards? Any fabricators have an idea? Photos attached with orange stickies for cuts.
