Excellent photography !!

I am waiting for Bathsheba to be on Fortuniana rootstock and it is just matter of time. :) Hopefully, in Fall or Winter.

Thank you Jin. Bathsheba on Fortuniana will be amazing. Mine is only first year on Dr. Huey and I already adore it for its petal packed blooms, nice fragrance, last well in a vase and quick repeat. Helen

Helen, I love your roses. Your photography, as mentioned, is superb. The progression from buds to open flower to the bush is an inspired idea. It makes me want to rush out and buy these roses immediately. Since I have too many pink roses I would have to consider a yellow one, which my garden could really use. I have Charles Darwin but it's growing very slowly, and the flowers fade to a boring beige color. Does Bathsheba hold up well and continue blooming in the heat?

Thanks Lily and Ingrid for the kind words. I have Charles Darwin also first year on Dr. Huey as Bathsheba but I think Bathsheba is more vigorous (guessing because it's a climber). My Charles Darwin is half the size of Bathsheba right now. I think Bathsheba holds up well and continues blooming in the heat. When the blooms get old, they have a lighter color which I like it, too. On the other hand, each Charles Darwin bloom is so gorgeous, I'm glad I have it in my garden.

Helen, thank you for the info. It does sound as though Bathsheba might like my garden. It being a climber seems like a good thing since the rabbits are trimming all the roses now at the bottom. That way something will be left that can bloom!

Ingrid, since we're both in drought areas, what I have seen in my garden in the summer time is if I don't water the roses often enough, they are in survivor mode and just use whatever water they received to keep themselves alive. However, if I water them more then they know they don't need to be in survivor mode and just keep blooming and repeat more often.

I saw this trend in DA quite often because their flowers have a lot of petals and need more water to create those beautiful petal packed blooms. So in my garden if I have some favorite roses that I like to see more blooms and repeats, I give them extra water in summer time. Helen

Bayarea, does your Stranger has any scent ? On HMF, it says no scent. I love the color but I also love scent and to top it off Burlington is the only one that sells it. I just heard from Kim and Jeri that they might be closing. When will that happens no one knows but Burlington have mentioned to them. So, I am kinda debating and deciding also.

They are all incredibly beautiful, Helen. I’m especially excited to see all the lovely pictures of Stranger. I just got this one from Burlington on Saturday while I was there. Lisa, I got mine from Burlington, too. It's a pleasure buying roses from her. Even though Stranger doesn't mind afternoon sun, I think most roses will like morning sun and afternoon shade especially you are in 10a zone. Helen

I'm so sad about Burling closing her nursery, but I can understand her reasons. It's hot where she is and she's on well water which is not a reliable source. Today there were record high temperatures all over the world, I heard 128 in Iran. I'm afraid the writing is on the wall. It will only get worse, and faster than many people thought.
