My raised bed did not turn out great

So , I planted zonal geraniums (12"), Snowstorm Snow Globe and sweet potato vine. Well the SPV has taken over! That cute little snow globe is buried in there under the SPV . The geraniums, though doing well, have never hit 12" tall -- Maybe they are not getting enough sun -- it is south/southwest exposure but there is a locus tree overhead.

The SPV is very nice and I love how it trails but I will have to better with my "thriller" and "filler" next year. Live and learn.

Very pretty!

I’m having this issue with my window planter .... I’ve done this exact combo many times, and my Pentas usually get bigger and taller than this. Unless you get up close, you can’t tell they’re in there. (My dracaenas are struggling, too.)

Same thing here ... usually my coleus gets much wider and are better balanced with the SPV. This year has been strange.

This is my first time doing cordyline with SPV.

It's lovely! If the soil level was closer to the rim of the container, the shorter plants would be more visible. You could trim some of the leaves of the SPV, that are competing with the other plants.

I love the calm, cool palette of colors!

The 4 red pentas I got this year were very short also. I'm hoping they put on a lot more verticle growth.

Looks like you have room on the ends to plunk in a couple of “thrillers” to enjoy over the summer. And best of all, everything is on sale!

I've noticed that that particular Sweet Potato Vine is berserk this year as well!!!!

Sure it did. It looks great. Monster of a sweet potato vine. Wow.

I have chickory like that this year. I keep calling it the chickory that ate the garage. It's supposed to grow 3-5 feet, and it's at least 7 feet tall.

SPV can be vicious. Last year I had one overtake an elephant ear. Really.

That's where the "gardening" part comes in. Without any guidance, plants might not match the goals of the gardener.
