The wood is quite dark. That is why you should go for a lighter blue to avoid the room being too dark and unfriendly/seeming too small.

Benjamin Moore’s 'Stained Glass' and 'Caribbean Blue Water' would do the job perfectly. If you want more contrast, go for 'Old Glory'. My favourite.

Also, think about painting only the bottom half of the wall to get a more welcoming atmosphere. And tell her, here at house, almost everyone is nice and friendly :)

I don’t think blue is your best choice with that bedding. But if you choose blue, it should be grayed down and light.

I would take a look at SW Comfort Gray. Its listed as a gray but it looks very blue up. Is pretty with wood and will compliment the bedding. I would add white sheets and pillows on the bed as a bright contrast. Consider white drapes as well.

Love the bed and agree a soft, grayed blue would be nice. I also think something like the Drift of Mist or Nuance Sophie posted could be nice for walls and curtains. Your mom could add some blue with accessories...pillows, throws, lamps, etc.

Just wanted to say that the bedding is really lovely and that wood door is beautiful too. I think the room is going to turn out really well.

My first inclination was either a really gray blue (like the Dockside Blue that Sophie Wheeler posted) or maybe a very deep blue. I'd get a couple of sample quarts (or whatever is the smallest the paint store offers) and paint some big swatches to see what you like with the oak.

I see the trim on the sham is dark blue. Would she go for something darker? It would look lovely with the wood..

Mom was thinking that a neutral would look blah with the wood, but the neutral s in Sophie’s post are quite nice. This is only the second time she’s changed her room since 1985 so i want to make sure it’s the best it can be for her!

So Mom got to the paint store to get a few samples that Sophie recommended. What do you think?

Honestly it's her choice, but in my opinion the bedding isn't strong enough for beige walls. It will just look nice, which is fine. But not "wow"...
